Drinking tea, specifically the Green Tea has a lot of health benefits. A lot of people now knows that green tea contains a lot of anti-oxidants that helps prevent certain cancers and other diseases.  Studies prove that green tea helps lower your cholesterol level and prevents cardiovascular diseases, infection, impaired immune function, cancer, and rheumatoid arthritis.   This is because green tea is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a powerful anti-oxidant that kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue.  EGCG is also effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels.  However, there is caffeine in green tea too.

Though the caffeine in green tea is less than coffee, it still can cause insomnia to some people.  There are also some decaffenated green tea that are available in the market, but decaffenation can lead to the loss of the major health benefits of green tea.  To have a decaffenated cup, it is best to get the best quality tea that you can get.  Since the caffeine is usually in the first infusion, the best thing to do is to dump the first brew and immediately start re-brewing.

On the other hand, caffeine also has benefits to our health.  Caffeine helps increase your metabolism and breaks down fat.

Whether caffeinated or decaff, start drinking around two to five cups of green tea per day.
