Too Many Laptop Choices

I have been using my Acer Aspire and Toshiba laptop for about 2 years now and I feel that I am already behind when it comes to technology. Sure, I have my software upgraded every now and then but the performance of my two laptops had not been the same. My newly acquired company issued netbook has not been enough as well. Makes me think of buying a new one so I started searching online. There are tons of choices and each one poses their own good characteristics.
I saw one of my classmates in Graduate school who brought his Sony Vaio TZ150N and I definitely fell in love with it. It also has a netbook version which is also equally stylish. The laptop looks a bit like a Mac and since I am a PC user, I think this will be a great substitute.
Some of my more techie friends though recommends Lenovo Thinkpad or an IBM laptop.
Well, I guess, I can stop with this three shortlisted laptop and brand. Now, all I need to think about will be my budget. How much can I spend on a laptop again and how soon can I produce that money. I guess, I have to work a bit extra in the next couple of days and start saving every penny that I can so I can buy whichever laptop I choose.
